F.A.Q.
When are y’all open to the public?
Every day but Wednesday!
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday: 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Is there an entry fee?
Yes, we charge a small entry fee of $10 for our 1-hour reservations or $5 for a 30 minute walk-in spot.
Central Purr is a non-profit establishment and every cent earned goes right back to our adoptable Café Cats. Your admission helps us provide them with veterinary care, food, water, litter, enrichment and a comfortable living space while they wait for their forever homes.
Do I have to make a reservation?
Reservations are not required, but they are strongly recommended as space in the café is limited. The limit on the number of guests helps us maintain a safe, comfortable environment for the cats and facilitates the best possible experience for our guests.
Reservations are for one hour only and can be made through our online booking system. (https://www.centralpurrofpcb.com/book-online)
We also welcome walk-ins when space is available. Walk-in visits are for 30 minutes and are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Because the café can fill up quickly, making a reservation is the best way to guarantee your spot and enjoy the full one-hour experience.
Who can visit?
Everyone! Central Purr welcomes guests of all ages to come enjoy the company of our Café Cats.
Children under 14 years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Children 2 years of age and under are free.
Responsible adults are expected to actively supervise the children in their care to help ensure that both children and cats are comfortable and safe.
Every guest, regardless of age, must have a signed waiver before entering the café.
Why do I have to sign a waiver?
Cats are live animals with free will! While we do everything we can to provide a safe and comfortable environment for both our guests and Café Cats, animals can be unpredictable. They might scratch, jump, nip, or simply decide they no longer want to be touched.
Our waiver helps make sure guests understand the nature of interacting with animals and importance of following our café rules. It also helps us protect our guests, our volunteers and the kitties in our care.
Why can’t I pick up the Café Cats?
As much as we all love a good kitty cuddle, we ask that guests do not pick up or carry the Café Cats.
Our Café Cats are all individuals with different personalities, comfort levels and life experiences. While some don’t mind, being picked up can be very stressful or frightening for some cats, and even a normally friendly kitty may scratch or bite it they feel uncomfortable or trapped.
Instead, we encourage you to let the cats come to you! Sit back and offer them a gentle hand to sniff and let them decide how much attention they want. You might be surprised at who chooses you for a cuddle!
This rule keeps our cats happy and comfortable while creating a safer, more enjoyable experience for everyone.
What food and drink does the café offer?
We have a few tasty options to enjoy during your visit!
Drinks:
Bones Coffee Co cold lattes
Coca-Cola products
Water
Complimentary hot coffee
Snacks:
My Big Fat Cookie
Chips
Can we feed the Café Cats?
No people food for these healthy babies, however, we have Café Cat approved kitty treats for sale in the café!
Do you accept cats?
Yes, but on a very limited basis.
Where do the Café Cats come from?
Central Purr does accept cats and kittens from members of the public when we have the space and resources to do so. Because our capacity is limited, we have to carefully consider each situation and unfortunately cannot take in every cat or kitten that needs help.
We also occasionally partner with other local rescue organizations to bring cats to Central Purr who are looking for forever homes.
Please do not bring any cat to the café. We are not an open-intake shelter or an animal drop-off location, and we cannot accept animals that are brought to our facility without prior approval.
If you have a cat or kitten who needs help, please reach out to us first. Even if we aren't able to take the animal, we'll do our best to help you find appropriate resources.
